Sophie is an intern at The Hague Academy for Local Governance. She supports training programmes on multilevel water governance, citizen participation, and local governance. Though originally from the Netherlands, Sophie grew up in France, Sudan, and Indonesia. Given this upbringing, Sophie enjoys the international atmosphere of The Hague Academy. Before joining The Hague Academy, Sophie completed a BA in International Relations and International Organisations and a BA in Philosophy of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. Sophie is passionate about citizen engagement, supporting development projects, and including more perspectives from the Global South.
