Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As cases of COVID-19 in The Netherlands have increased once again, the Dutch government has tightened the preventive measures. Rules such as avoiding busy places, staying 1.5 meters apart and wearing a face mask at indoor public places apply to everyone. At The Hague Academy, our staff members are working from home.

European Union starts lifting travel restrictions for residents of some third countries

The EU Council adopted a recommendation on the gradual lifting of restrictions on travel into the EU. A number of countries are listed in the recommendation, with this list being reviewed and updated every two weeks.

As per the latest update on exemptions from travel restrictions (16 December), EU states should gradually lift the travel restrictions for the following third countries:

  • Australia
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Rwanda
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Thailand
  • China, including the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, subject to confirmation of reciprocity

The criteria to determine the third countries for which the current travel restriction should be lifted includes the epidemiological situation and containment measures, including physical distancing, as well as economic and social considerations. Learn more.

Open subscription courses

Due to travel restrictions associated with the Coronavirus outbreak, the format of the open courses has been adjusted. We are now offering practice-oriented blended courses, consisting of two parts:

Online module: This module will consist of several assignments spread throughout the timeframe provided. Participants will start learning about the topic while enhancing their online skills in an innovative e-learning environment. This module will prepare them for the next part of the course.

Face-to-face module: By the end of the year, participants will spend eight days in The Netherlands, focusing on study visits, expert presentations and the exchange of experiences with other participants. We intend to offer this module in 2020, but if this is not possible, it will be postponed to 2021, at the earliest possibility.

Tailor-made training

Due to the circumstances, our training offer is moving online. We are going beyond the traditional webinars and have developed several interactive learning programmes. In these programmes, we combine presentations from experts with individual assignments, group work, games, video tours to study visits, individual coaching, and live events.

Our trainers put a lot of effort into designing scripted content and deliver intensive e-facilitation. So far, they facilitated tailor-made, online courses for participants based in Jordan, Sudan, Uganda, Somalia, Iran and Afghanistan. With our tailor-made, interactive approach, we make sure each individual participant stays engaged from start to end and create an optimal learning impact.

Practical information

Our online platform is easily accessible, even with low Internet speed. The time investment for participants varies from two to eight hours a week. Are you interested in a customised course? We are happy to advise you. You can contact us at info@thehagueacademy.com.

For more information about the virus in The Netherlands, please refer to the website of the Netherlands’ National Institute for Public Health and the Environment

Our team will continuously monitor the situation and will inform you in case there is a change in the measures outlined above.
