Karlijn van der Loo

Karlijn is an intern at The Hague Academy for Local Governance. She supports training programmes on inclusive service delivery and the SDGs, gender responsive governance, and local economic development. She’s originally Dutch, but grew up in Canada, the US and Hong Kong. She completed her bachelor’s degree at University College Utrecht two years ago with majors in political science and international law, and has been traveling, working, and interning in South Africa, Southeast Asia, and the US since then. Karlijn intends to pursue an LLM in international humanitarian and human rights law in the future and put this towards work on topics she’s passionate about such as food security, gender-based violence and migration.
