Emmely Benschop is a Deputy Director and Team Manager at The Hague Academy for Local Governance. An organisational psychologist by background, Emmely is passionate about supporting processes of organisational development and driving change in the public and non-profit sectors. In 2008, she started as a Programme Manager and supported The Hague Academy to grow from a small start-up to the present-day organisation. Moreover, Emmely has supported the institutional strengthening of ministries, training institutes, universities and CSOs in countries such as Jordan, Burundi and South Sudan. She has worked on a diverse set of topics, ranging from Integrity and Anti-Corruption and Gender Responsive Governance, to Decentralisation and Sustaining Peace. She particularly enjoys working with diverse groups of people, listening and helping them to make a positive impact. Before joining The Hague Academy, Emmely worked as a policy officer at the Ministry of Interior and at The Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta. She holds a Master’s Degree in Organisational Psychology from Utrecht University and studied International Relations at Lund University in Sweden.
