Kayley Johnson

Kayley Johnson-van Beelen is the Outreach Officer at The Hague Academy for Local Governance. In this role, she advances the Academy’s global mission by connecting local governance professionals with high-quality training programmes and cultivating partnerships with international stakeholders, including NGOs, donors, and government institutions.

Before joining The Hague Academy, Kayley held roles in business development, with organisations such as Arcadis and Atos. She brings a strong background in stakeholder engagement, CRM systems, and strategic partnerships, with a particular interest in the intersection of governance and technology.

Kayley also has a passion for education. She spent several years teaching English and History in China, where she designed curricula, supported student development, and led extracurricular initiatives aimed at empowering young people.

She holds a Master’s degree in Asian Studies from Leiden University and a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from James Cook University. She has also studied at the University of Minnesota, Beijing Language and Culture University, and Nanjing Normal University. Kayley speaks English, Dutch, and Mandarin.
