Maurits prepares and implements multiple training programmes focusing on local governance, inclusive governance, integrity and transitional justice. He works in Ukraine, the Balkans and a number of African countries. Maurits has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen, a minor degree in political science from the Canadian Université de Sherbrooke, a master’s in Global Conflict, and a master’s in Russian and Eurasian Studies, both from the University of Leiden. Maurits has working experience in Ukraine, France, Switzerland and The Netherlands. He specialises in conflict studies. Since July 2022 he is registered as a Ukraine specialist with the Clingendael Institute for International Relations. Before joining The Hague Academy, Maurits was a civil servants at the city of The Hague.
