Monique coordinates the Orange Knowledge and MENA Scholarship programmes at The Hague Academy. She has a degree in Arabic Language & Culture from Radboud University. After graduation, she spent twelve years in the Middle East working for a Dutch Middle East correspondent, the Dutch embassy in Cairo (Defense Office) and the Dutch embassy in Beirut (Ambassador’s Office & Cultural Affairs). After returning to the Netherlands, she worked at the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, as a country specialist for the Middle East. She also did several secondments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Archives. Before joining The Hague Academy, Monique concluded 27 years as a civil servant.
