Our open subscription courses are taught in English. You will need to be able to speak and understand the language well in order to participate. Our customised training programmes are offered in different languages including French, Spanish and Arabic. On request, we can arrange interpretation in any language.

- In what language are the courses taught?

In our courses we apply different learning formats:
- face-to-face training
- facilitated or self-paced online training
- blended training (online + face-to-face)
All formats, either face-to-face or online, offer a highly interactive and practice-oriented learning experience. Visit our course overview page to learn about our upcoming courses.
- Where do the courses take place?
Our face-to-face courses and activities take place in The Hague, the Netherlands, and (for customised training) abroad. Our online courses are offered on our online learning platform, that is easy accessible from all place in the world.
- What is the average of group size per course?
The open subscription courses in The Hague, have an average group size of 15 participants per course, with a maximum of 25. Customised training can be organised for different group sizes, depending on the needs and wishes of the client or partner.
- Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
Yes, you will receive a certificate on the final day of your course or training programme.
- Are there scholarships available to attend open subscription courses?
Yes, all information about scholarship opportunities can be found on our scholarship page. There, you will find the different application deadlines and the procedure to apply.
- Does The Hague Academy fund training participants for open subscription courses?
Unfortunately, The Hague Academy does not have the funds to sponsor the enrolment of participants. We advise interested applicants to look into the available scholarship opportunities.
- Are there funding opportunities available for customised training?
The Hague Academy for Local Governance has no funds for customised training on request. However, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through their Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) offers funding opportunities for tailor-made training programmes for organisations in any of the eligible countries. The OKP-programme is managed by Nuffic, the Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education. To learn more about their calls for proposals, please visit Nuffic’s website.
- How can I request customised training for my organisation?
If you are interested in a customised training, we request you provide us with some basic information about your wishes and needs, such as the group size, location and duration of the training. Please click here for the request form.
