The Serbian state secretary of Interior, Mr Vladimir Bozovic, and the Dutch ambassador in Serbia, Mr Laurent Stokvis, on Tuesday launched a new cooperation programme on Security and Rule of Law. The programme aims to strengthen leadership by the Serbian authorities in fighting corruption, providing public security and protecting human rights.
After the official opening, The Hague Academy for Local Governance facilitated a workshop to discuss the main security issues in Serbia with representatives from the Justice and Interior Ministries, the police and local authorities. These issues will be addressed in four different programme components: a leadership training, a train-the-trainer programme, the development of a security benchmark and multi-stakeholder workshops on human rights and anti-discrimination.
The Dutch organisations that participate in the implementation are: VNG International, The Hague Academy for Local Governance, PBLQ ROI and CILC. This Matra CoPROL programme is financed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands.
