The UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize will be awarded during the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders held in Bogotá from 12 to 15 October 2016. The global organisation of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) will award a peace prize to local governments which implement strategies for conflict prevention, peacebuilding and post-conflict reconstruction.
The 5 finalists Prize represent a diverse range of innovative peace projects by local governments. The top contenders for the award are Canoas (Brazil), Cali (Colombia), Palmira (Colombia), Shabunda (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Kauswagan (the Philippines).
The UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize is supported by the Provincial Council of Barcelona and developed with the expertise of PAX and VNG International within the framework of the UCLG Committee on Development Cooperation and City Diplomacy.

Conflict, Rule of Law and Local Security
If you are working on conflict prevention, peacebuilding or post-conflict reconstruction our two-week training course in November might also be interesting for you. The key issues in this training are: How can governments promote citizen security and protect human rights after violent conflict? What policies and instruments do they have to foster reconciliation and peacebuilding amongst different ethnic or religious groups? And what attitude and skills do government officials need to lead conflict transformation processes?
Application is still open. Click for more information.
We offer a diversity of courses throughout the year. Here are several other courses you might like.
