Environmental Sustainability and Water Management, Smart & Sustainable Cities, Smart and Sustainable Leadership

The “Environmental Sustainability and Water Management, Smart & Sustainable Cities, Smart and Sustainable Leadership ” training took place in The Hague in 2026.

The objective of the 2.5-day program was to strengthen the capacity of senior Thai public officials to lead sustainable local development by exposing them to Dutch practices in environmental sustainability, water management, smart cities, and innovative local governance, with a focus on translating international experience into context-relevant leadership insights.

The beneficiaries of it were twenty-nine senior participants of King Prajadhipok’s Institute’s Advanced Certificate Course, including high-level local government officials, ministry representatives, mayors and deputy mayors, and selected private-sector executives involved in local governance, urban development, and sustainability-related decision-making in Thailand.

The 2,5-day tailor-made study visit combined expert-led sessions, peer exchange, and site visits in the Netherlands. Key topics included environmental sustainability and water management, smart and sustainable cities, digital innovation, circular economy, and leadership transformation in local governance.

The activities done, included sessions at The Hague Academy for Local Governance, study visits to Dutch municipalities and innovation sites (e.g. The Hague, Amsterdam, Living Lab Scheveningen), and guided reflection sessions. The programme emphasised practical, place-based learning and transferable lessons for sustainable and participatory local governance in Thailand.
