Improving Local Water Governance and Water Cycle Management

In 2020 and 2021, The Hague Academy and World Waternet developed an Orange Knowledge tailor-made programme for the Palestinian Water Authorities (PWA) and water service companies. The training focused on water governance and water cycle management.

Main goal

Provide training on local water governance and water cycle management to staff members from the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) and water service companies.

Objectives

  • Provide training on local water governance and water cycle management to staff members from the PWA and Water Service Companies, focusing on two pilot areas in the Salfit and Hebron Governorates;
  • Provide practical skills training that will further develop into so-called Back-Home Action Plans, which will aim to improve the institutional capacity of PWA staff to address its challenges; and
  • Ensure that participants gain the necessary skills to facilitate and deliver the knowledge of the content training to colleagues, partners and clients in the Palestinian water sector.

Activities

During the project, 20 people were trained on three main components:

Sessions on key topics such as water sector reforms in the Palestinian Territories, effective water governance, inclusive water service delivery and best practices in water cycle management.

Practical skills training to improve the institutional capacity of PWA’s staff to address its challenges.

Training-of-Trainers to ensure that participants gain the necessary skills to facilitate and deliver the knowledge of the content training to colleagues, partners and clients in the Palestinian water sector.
