Inclusive Land Governance in Somalia

The Inclusive Land Governance in Somalia programme was developed on request from the Somali Federal Ministry of Public Works and implemented with the United Nations Saameynta Joint Programme of IOM, UN Habitat and UNDP.

Government officials from municipalities, states and federal government strengthened their understanding of government staff of inclusive governance, for their contribution to the development of a national land policy and the implementation of land administration in Somalia.

During the training, participants developed an action plan for each state, outlining their next steps in achieving inclusive land governance. The programme included a seven-day training on Frameworks for Inclusive Land Governance for 24 selected government officials. During the training, participants developed an action plan for each state, outlining their next steps in achieving inclusive land governance. A workshop was organised to pitch their action plan to development partners.

Furthermore, a seven-day Training-of-Trainers was organised to strengthen training design and delivery skills, as well as provide in-depth knowledge on inclusive land governance to a selected group of participants. After this, a curriculum and trainers guide were developed for a five-day localised training on inclusive land governance. The local trainers delivered a roll-out of this training.
