Leave No One Behind – GIZ Egypt

The online programme “Leave No One Behind” took place in 2022. Staff members from GIZ followed a one-day tailor-made training aimed at creating a shared understanding among GIZ staff on integrating the ‘Leave No One Behind’ principle in their local governance and urban development projects in the MENA region.

The participants of the programme were local and international GIZ staff within the MENA region, involved in the “Local Governance and Urban Development” workstream.

The one-day, online training equipped the participants with skills and knowledge to address exclusion challenges in urban development and governance prevalent in the MENA region. The participants were familiarised with the following topics:

  • Urban equality and inclusion,
  • Leaving No One and No Place Behind principle,
  • Key Vulnerability assessment frameworks for exclusion,
  • Spatial justice.

At the end of the course, the participants should be able to:

  • Explain the principle of Leaving no one and no Place Behind concerning urbanisation, urban development, and urban governance,
  • Identify the challenges in the MENA region concerning urban development and governance,
  • Explain and apply tools and methods for assessing the vulnerability of those left behind in cities within MENA region, including those left furthest behind,
  • Formulate clear, action-oriented objectives for integrating/mainstreaming LNOB into their projects.
