The “Shiraka Alumni Social Affairs and Employment 2022” programme took place in 2022. This project is funded by Shiraka, a programme commissioned by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). With the Shiraka programme, the Netherlands partners with government organisations in the MENA region in order to cooperate on the improvement of public service delivery, while building a network of peers and fostering bilateral relations between the Netherlands and the MENA region.
The objectives of the programme were to bring 13 alumni from the Shiraka Social Affairs and Employment 2020 together in order to deepen their knowledge in social affairs and employment, strengthen their social and professional relationships, and build a network with their Dutch counterparts.
The training focused on the topics of gender responsive governance, inclusive public policy making, and youth employment, as well as what was implemented from the Back-Home Action Plans that participants designed in their initial training.
