Throughout 2026, The Hague Academy delivered a 5-week online training and a subsequent one week training in the Netherlands for professionals who are ambitious about professionalising public services in local governance.
The training course covered the following topics:
- Main concepts and elements of decentralisation and multi-level governance
- Local economic development
- Good local governance: participation, inclusion, transparency and accountability
- Practical skills such as negotiation skills, project management and change management
- Study visits to governmental bodies in the Netherlands
The main goals of the training were:
- Gain insight into the principles of good local governance and effective inter-administrative relations
- Share knowledge and skills from country contexts
- Develop a valuable network of peers in the region, country and in the Netherlands
- Strengthen connections with the Netherlands and stakeholders in the Dutch local governance sector
