Shiraka Water Management Alumni Conference 2023

The Shiraka Water Management Alumni Conference took place in 2023 in the Netherlands. Alumni of our Shiraka Water Management 2020 programme followed a tailor-made training in order to deepen their knowledge in water management best practices and innovations from the Netherlands and MENA region, to enable them to guide reforms/developments in the field of water management in their own country, and to strengthen their professional and social networks with each other and with counterparts in the Netherlands.

The beneficiaries of the programme were the alumni of Shiraka Water Management 2020, Shiraka Water Management in Iraq 2020 and Shiraka Water Management and Food Security Nexus in Iran 2020 who completed all aspects of their respective training programme, including submission of a Back-Home Action Plan.

Participants attended plenary sessions, such as the welcoming remarks, together as a group. During study visits and other breakout sessions, they were divided into smaller groups according to country and topic (depending on the activity). This allowed participants to interact with each people from within and outside their countries. The programme included a number of study visits as well.
