Summer School: Integrity Policy in the Civil Service

The Summer School in Integrity Policy in the Civil Service in cooperation with GiZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, aimed to support participants from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in designing practical action plans and strategies to address integrity challenges in the civil service.

The project consisted of theoretical lectures, participatory training sessions, assignments and study visits to inspire the participants and increase their knowledge and skills. It included Q&A’s with integrity professionals from the Dutch government, practitioners and academia, workshops on the improvement of integrity and anti-corruption monitoring and facilitates network building between the participants and their Dutch peers. By the end of training, the participants were able to:

  • Reflect on the Dutch integrity system and think of which tools or mechanisms they might contextualize;
  • Understand integrity risk management practices and reflect whether it might be beneficial for their own context;
  • Understand the oversight practices to prevent conflicts of interest;
  • Evaluate their previously identified challenges, and narrow them down to manageable tasks.
