Training of Trainers-Gender Mainstreaming
The “Training of Trainers on Gender Mainstreaming” took place in 2022 in the Netherlands. Staff members from VNG International followed a tailor-made training aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of VNG International staff to promote that:
- VNG International teams are gender sensitive and can implement more inclusive and gender sensitive programmes
- VNG International teams are better equipped to integrate gender components into their daily activities/programmes/projects.
Participants were programme managers of VNG International Headquarters. Together with a gender expert from VNG International, the expert of The Hague Academy hosted a “lunch and learn” session to introduce a new online Moodle course on Gender Mainstreaming for VNGI staff.
The Gender Mainstreaming Moodle is both educational as it contains a short introduction to important concepts relating to gender, as well as practical as it can provide an oversight of all the relevant checklists, guidelines and documents relating to gender mainstreaming, the project cycle and organising activities.
In addition, for a smaller group, the expert hosted an interactive training session on how to introduce Gender Mainstreaming to country teams. Different facilitation methods were discussed, and practical tools were introduced for mainstreaming gender in meetings, inception phase, annual plans and budgets.
