Training of Trainers – SDLG Lebanon

The “Training of Trainers – SDLG Lebanon” took place in the Netherlands and Lebanon between late 2025 and early 2026.

The objective of the programme was to support the development and initial roll-out of a modular capacity development programme under SDLG Lebanon, strengthening inclusive and representative local leadership through high-quality, context-sensitive training, quality assurance, and support to local trainers.

The beneficiaries of the programme were local government officials and local governance practitioners in Lebanon participating in the SDLG training modules, as well as selected Lebanese trainers who receive training, coaching, and methodological support to deliver the programme.

Under the SDLG Lebanon programme, The Hague Academy for Local Governance supports VNG International in developing and quality-assuring three training modules:

• Local Economic Development,
• Local Response to Migration and Refugees, and
• Citizen Participation and Inclusive Governance.

The activities included the development of training materials, integration of local input, a Training-of-Trainers in the Netherlands, online coaching during module roll-out, and overall methodological oversight. The assignment covered the design and preparation of the first three modules in 2025 and supported local trainers during initial delivery.
