UNDP Jordan Universities Programme 2018-2019

Motivated by the vision of His Majesty the King of Jordan to strengthen democratic governance in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) initiated a University Programme on Local Development and Administration. UNDP assigned The Hague Academy to coordinate the development of this academic programme, in close cooperation with national and international universities, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior and other relevant Ministries in Jordan.

The programme consists of theoretical modules on local governance and local development, as well as a practical component, focusing on research and national experiences. This combination will enable students to conduct original applied research, addressing a topic that is of relevance to communities and municipalities in Jordan in general and the communities surrounding the selected universities in particular. The Hague Academy’s involvement in the project started in September 2018.
