How to Prevent Corruption and Increase Integrity

Transparency International published in February a report titled, “The Anti-Corruption Principles and Standards for Local Governance Systems”. The report provides clear guidance on how to prevent corruption at the local level and how to deal with it when it occurs.

Most of these principles and standards apply to the whole governance system, including citizens, civil society, the media and the private sector. These stakeholders play an increasingly important role in local policymaking, oversight and service delivery and are essential for reducing corruption. Civil society organisations notably can use the principles and standards to monitor the progress of local governance.

Integrity and Anti-corruption
Corruption is one of the root causes of poverty, conflict and state fragility, yet it can be found at all levels and in all sectors of government. This course focuses on the prevention of corruption by promoting a culture of integrity. It helps you identify the drivers of corruption, discusses international frameworks and presents examples of integrity and anti-corruption policies to better cope with integrity dilemmas.
