From 10 to 21 September, The Hague Academy for Local Governance organised its annual course on water governance. Participants from around the globe gathered in The Hague to discuss practical approaches to water provision and the five building blocks of sound water governance. Several study visits were made during the training, including a trip to the Maeslantkering storm surge barrier.
“A masterpiece of engineering! We gained a lot of knowledge of the water defense system in the Netherlands which has definitely been a knowledge booster for delta countries, like my own. The Maeslantkering shows us why it’s safer and less expensive to be pro-active and not reactive.”
This open registration course will be available again in 2019. Professionals working on issues of water governance can learn more here.
