From 29 January to 7 February, The Hague Academy for Local Governance welcomed senior civil servants from Turkey for first part of the training on “Leadership for security and rule of law” within the Matra Coprol programme. The training aimed at improving visionary and strategic leadership of high-level policy and decision makers at institutions in public security sector.
The participants followed a number of interactive workshops and lectures by experts and practitioners in the field of the rule of law and also made a study visit to the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice, where they exchanged experiences with their Dutch counterparts. Finally, a visit to the Municipality of Rotterdam was organised, where the participants had the chance to learn about the security index and its effectiveness in improving security at the local level.
The participants will continue with follow-up training sessions in September and December 2014. A similar training programme will be organised this year for participants from Albania and Serbia. Application for Serbian participants will open in March. Check our website regulary for updates.
The training programme is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and implemented in cooperation with the VNG International, PBLQ and CILC.
