Tools for Participatory Policy Making Zimbabwe

Between 2015 and 2017, The Hague Academy developed a six-day course on participatory policymaking in Zimbabwe and a three-day Training of Trainers. The training supported thirteen selected local authorities and a number of resident organisations. The activities were implemented in close cooperation with a local public policy expert.

Main goal

The main goal was to increase the capacity of the local authorities and civil society organisations in the definition and implementation of public policies, i.e. in the field of participatory policy development. This would ultimately result in increased participation of citizens in the policymaking process in Zimbabwe.

Objectives

  • Increase the capacity of the local authorities and civil society organisations in the definition and implementation of public policies;
  • Strengthen and polish the training development and facilitation skills of the twenty selected representatives from CSOs; and
  • Provide further assistance in developing a handbook on participatory policymaking.
