University Programme on Local Authorities and Local Development in Jordan

Motivated by the vision of His Majesty the King of Jordan to strengthen democratic governance in the Kingdom, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior (MoI) and UNDP initiated a University Programme on Local Development and Administration. The Hague Academy was assigned to coordinate the development of this academic programme, in close cooperation with national and international universities, the Ministry of Interior and other relevant Ministries in Jordan. 40 scholarships were provided to fully cover the tuition fees of the entire academic degree.

Objectives

• Develop and conduct the first Higher Certificate Degree Programme on Local Authorities and Local Development in Jordan, in close cooperation with national and international universities, Ministry of Interior and other relevant Ministries in Jordan; and
• Offer individual scholarships to the staff of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Minority Affairs, and other relevant Ministries and subnational authorities in Jordan.
