From 12 to 17 January 2014 a group of 30 Algerian senior civil servants and other stakeholders from three different provinces visited the Hague Academy for Local Governance for a tailor-made training on Local Economic Development. The training was financed by GIZ Algeria.
The participants were trained on various aspects of Local Economic Development and made a field visit to the Municipality of Westland to observe and study the innovative ways of horticulture in the Netherlands. This was highly appreciated: “This is a pioneer experience and deserves to be very well studied and possibly copied”, according to one of the participants.
The municipality of The Hague presented their policies concerning the development and marketing of tourism. One participant said: “We can certainly us these lessons learned in our own situation”.
At the end of training week the Ambassador of Algeria to the Netherlands Mrs. Baghli and the General Manager of the Hague Academy for Local Governance, Ms. Cecile Meijs handed over the certificates to the participants.
