The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is the broadest organisation of local and regional authorities in Europe. Its members are over 60 national associations of municipalities and regions from 40 European countries. CEMR aims to influence European legislation on behalf of local and regional authorities and to provide a platform for the exchange of information and knowledge between its members and experts. In the framework of CEMR’s PLATFORMA activities in the EU Neighbourhood East, a number of capacity-building and awareness-raising activities in the area of gender equality have been organised since 2018, with associations of local and regional governments in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. In this context, The Hague Academy organised an online training workshop on gender-responsive governance in 2021.
To provide information, tools and advice to Charter signatories in Georgia and Moldova for more effective implementation of the Equality Charter in their territories; and to offer potential Charter signatories an opportunity to learn about the Equality Charter, and the basic steps for assessing gender equality priorities in their territory and developing actions/action plans.
The training aims to ensure that the participants:
